President - Karl SmaylingKarl Smayling is a software engineering manager currently developing RF MEMS solutions at Cavendish Kinetics. His work involves leading and implementing the design of software spanning automated data analysis, production test control, and customer evaluation tools to further the development of cutting edge products. Prior to joining Cavendish he founded a successful private engineering consulting business, Atalanta Designs, specializing in custom software development and semiconductor test chip designs.
Karl completed his MBA and a Master's in Systems Engineering at San Jose State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also holds two undergraduate degrees from Rice University in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. At Rice University, Karl was an active leader serving as an Associate Chief Justice for his college and also played for the Rice Rugby Team.
In his personal time, Karl enjoys relaxing with his wife Nicole, his son, and their two puppies. He also enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies, BBQ'ing with friends, and competing in USTA tennis leagues. Vice President: Vicky SangriuVicky Sangriu is currently leading the Investor Relations department of KBR Capital Partners, LLC, an independent securities issuer headquartered in Redwood Shores, CA. She is responsible for the shaping of internal strategy and communications within the firm as well as with clients, financial advisors and institutional investors. Ms. Sangriu has established a well respected reputation in the securities industry and frequently contributes to best operational and compliance practices developed in the alternative investments space. During her tenure as Sr. Due Diligence Analyst for a prominent independent Broker Dealer, she was responsible for continuous analysis of over 50 investment funds as well as successfully improving and streamlining the firm’s operational processes.
Ms. Sangriu holds an MBA with Special Distinction in Finance from California State University, Northridge, where she previously received her B.S. in Finance and Real Estate, Magna Cum Laude. In addition, she holds a Series 7 & 63 FINRA licenses & is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. She was born in Eastern Europe and is an enthusiastic expert in European art, music and movies and she speaks 5 languages.
During her spare time, Ms. Sangriu is a “gastronomic aficionada” – appreciates and shares her love for great foods and drinks in the South Bay area as well as hiking, museums, musical concerts and sporting events with friends and family.
Treasurer - Alan DoughertyAlan Dougherty is as an accounting assistant with Phacil, a government contractor providing Information Technology services to Civilian and Defense agencies. His primary responsibilities are in accounts payable to support the accounting department. Prior to joining Phacil Alan has held a variety of positions throughout the bay area with non-profits, startups, and financial services companies.
Alan studied Finance and Economics while he attended the University of San Francisco and graduated Cum Laude in 2008. It was at this time that Alan joined Beta Gamma Sigma.
Professional life aside Alan enjoys spending time with family and friends outdoors. He can be found camping in Northern California, walking around San Francisco, or heading out to catch a Giants game.
