Karl Smayling

Karl Smayling is an engineer currently developing MEMS solutions with Bay Area technology startup Cavendish Kinetics. His work involves VLSI design and developing algorithms and analysis solutions to further the development of cutting edge products. Prior to joining Cavendish he founded a successful private engineering consulting business, Atalanta Designs, specializing in custom software development and semiconductor test chip designs. Karl recently completed his MBA and a Master's in Systems Engineering at San Jose State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also holds two undergraduate degrees from Rice University in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. At Rice University, Karl was an active leader serving as an Associate Chief Justice for his college and also played for the Rice Rugby Team. In his personal time, Karl enjoys relaxing with his wife Nicole and their two puppies (Andrei & Toby). He also enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies, BBQ'ing with friends, and competing in USTA tennis leagues.
