Fifth Annual Career Panel - Career Outlook 2005
•
BGS San Francisco started the New Year with a career panel at the Mechanic's Institute on January 27, 2005. The speakers, Christy Consler and Professor John Krumboltz, introduced event attendees to various methods with which to take charge of their careers. The event was a great success as indicated by a high attendance rate with almost no empty seats left, and the enthusiastic feedback given by career panel attendees.
Panel Speakers: Christy Consler Christy Consler is an executive coach specializing in leadership coaching and consulting, as well as career development. She has coached executives and managers from companies that include eBay, Williams-Sonoma, Gap, American Express, and Visa. A graduate of Cornell University, Christy earned MBA in Marketing and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. John Krumboltz, Ph.D Mr. Krumboltz is a leader in the theory of career counseling. His social learning theory postulates that career transitions result from an uncountable number of learning experiences made possible by both planned and unplanned encounters with the people, institutions and events in each person's particular environment. "The reluctance to make an occupational commitment in the face of unpredictable future events should be celebrated as open-mindedness, not denigrated as indecisiveness." - from a 1998 article, "Serendipity Is Not Serendipitous" Mr. Krumboltz holds a Ph.D from the University of Minnesota, a Masters from Columbia, and is currently a professor at Stanford. He is regarded by business writers as one of this country’s gurus of career management. He recently published a book entitled, "Luck is No Accident," which he will make available at a signing at the event. |
