Wine Country Luncheon
and Wine Workshop

Trinchero Napa Valley Winery
Saturday, January 16th, 2010 → 12:00pm–4:30pm
BGS-SF Scholarship Fundraiser

Join us for an exclusive event hosted by Trinchero Napa Valley Winery to help us raise funds for a business school scholarship. You will be treated to a fabulous luncheon prepared by winery chefs, followed by fun, interactive workshops to learn about wine.
  • 12:00 – 12:30: Check in
  • 12:30 – 2:00: Luncheon
  • 2:00 – 3:00: Mastering Wine Aromas
and the Aroma Wheel of Fortune

Wine is experienced through different senses—sight, smell, and taste—but over 90% of our sensory perception is derived from aroma. Inspired by Dr. Ann Noble’s Wine Aroma Wheel, this innovative presentation was pioneered by Trinchero Family Estates. You will become familiar with common aromas while engaging in a fun, thought-provoking competition. You will be able to define wine aromas, understand off-aromas (faults), and develop an aroma ‘vocabulary’ to identify and discuss wines and their characteristic aromas.
  • 3:00 – 4:00: Mastering the Palate
    and the Tongue Fu Challenge

The art of winemaking involves balancing important taste components such as acid, sugar, alcohol, and tannin. During the Tongue Fu Challenge, you will learn the meaning of wine terms such as flat, thin, flabby, and hot. You will be challenged to correctly identify wines which have been slightly altered to accentuate fruit acid, sugar, tannin, and alcohol.
  • 4:00 – 4:30: Let’s Make a Meal
This interactive, electronic game show will put your wine and culinary experience to the test. Teams are challenged with questions covering the entire education program, further helping you to retain your new-found wine and culinary knowledge.

This event has been generously donated to our chapter by Trinchero Napa Valley. All proceeds will become part of the chapter’s annual scholarship for a promising undergraduate or graduate student attending an AACSB-accredited business school. Online registration and payment are required by Monday, January 11, 2010. Space is limited to 25 guests.
